Herblabism launches two new 100% plant-based sausage products

Herblabism’s culinary teams have been working hard to create two new 100% plant-based sausage products. Over the last three months, two delicious new products have been expertly crafted and fine-tuned: our new mushroom & vegetable sausage, and our new spicy chorizo sausage. These two new additions add great diversity to our product range, and have very quickly become best-sellers.

Why have we created these products, and what does the plant-based sausage market look like?

The global plant-based sausage market is set to be worth a staggering $6.3 billion by 2028, according to new data. Future Market Insights’ latest report predicts the market to expand at more than 26% year-on-year – surpassing $1 billion by the end of next year. Plant-based sausages' market growth is supported by rising health consciousness in consumers, and a subsequent decrease in meat uptake.

This tapering consumption of meat products has further ushered in a decline in meat production, making way for plant-based sausages’ market expansion. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations notes a decline in meat production, which had been rising every year for the past six decades until recent years.

mushroom & vegetable sausage

Instead of mimicking meat proteins, we chose to embrace the rich complexity of the mushroom to create a great tasting, brilliantly textured mushroom and vegetable sausage. Alongside aubergine, peppers and courgette, we add herbs and spices to give our mushroom and vegetable sausage a rich and satisfying complexity.

We missed the smokey spice of arguably Spain’s best-loved sausage, so when we created a plant-based version we wanted to get that spice balance just right. We combined paprika, chilli and spices with mushroom and pea flour, to create Spanish-inspired plant-based perfection.

Herblabism products are always low in sugar. They provide a great source of fibre, natural proteins, and vegetables. We use no soya, no eggs, and no mycoprotein.

* FSA Salt Category 25.2 Meat-free products.
